Video Game Designer And Other Hot Jobs For 2010 And Beyond

Video Game Designer And Other Hot Jobs For 2010 And Beyond

Many kids today spend thousands of hours playing video games. Progressing from GameBoys(TM), to GameCubes(TM), Wii(TM) and XBox(TM), to the final frontier of the Massive Multiplayer Online games, it looks to have taken over their life. Is there a way to capitalize on this obsession and find a career that is equally (or at least nearly) as appealing? Take up the quest and learn a courageous new world of future jobs that video game geeks might really like.

Video Game Designer

First and foremost, of course, is the job of making video games themselves. The facts are these: the video game industry has surpassed movies in terms of the dollar value generated. Incredible!  Not only is this industry continuing to expand, but it also appears to be relatively recession proof. What does it take to have a career in video game creation?  First, you need to know that there is not just one kind of video game job out there, but many. It takes a team of people with multiple talents to pull off the creation of an exciting new game. The jobs and skills involved include artists – storyboard artist, character artist, animator, texture artists, programmers, including sound and audio engineers, game designers – character design, level design, overall design, game producers – project management skills, and writers – software documentation, storytelling, character scripts. There has been a recent explosion in colleges, technical institutes and certificate programs to help you get the skills you need to get into this industry. While I was researching this industry, though, I found out that there are a lot of other up and coming careers that use a lot of the same skills and may be equally appealing.

Simulation Engineer

Just as the job of the video game designer and programmer is to make a convincing virtual world, there is a “real life” application of this for a number of industries- simulations.  At one college they talked about how some students were using electrical impulses from the heart to render 3 dimensional images of the heart in real time to help doctors examine what could be incorrect.  At RPI they are working on making a simulation of a surgical procedure for doctors to get practice before they cut someone open! Beyond medical applications, simulations are gaining ground in aerospace, automotive engineering, and many other industries.  Of course, the military has been interested in simulation for a very long time.  Some of the college video game degree programs are recognizing this trend and have added “simulation” into the title of their program (for example, Daniel Webster Colleges’ “Gaming, Simulation and Robotics” BS degree or the University of Baltimore’s “Simulation and Digital Entertainment” degree). Scientists, engineers, defense planners and educators all use simulation to facilitate their jobs.

Mobile Application Developer

Another huge career trend is the explosion of applications for all kinds of other devices. Just look at the iPhone or the iTouch.  What can’t these things do? Making content, software applications and who knows what else for all kinds of mobile devices is hot. So “Mobile Application Developer” is a career that is here now and will expand in the future. This is also a career that colleges and universities are already recognizing. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute offers a degree in “Electronic Media Arts and Communication”; Worcester Polytechnic Institute offers “Interactive Media and Game Development”.  Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has a BS in “New Media and Interactive Development”; Champlain College offers a degree in “Software Engineering for Emergent Technologies”.

Computer Forensics and Cyber Security

The other really hot area highlighted at colleges like RIT is computer forensics and cyber security specialists. You only have to listen to the latest news about hackers stealing 135 million credit card numbers to see why these are hot job areas. Computer forensic specialists work with criminal justice folks to dig into all the computerized records and data associated with criminal cases. We are only going to get more connected in the future, making us even larger targets. If you like figuring out how to get around what someone else made, why not consider putting your talents to excellent use for everyone’s benefit?  DePaul University offers a degree in “Information Assurance and Security Engineer”; RIT has “Information Security and Forensics”, while Champlain college offers “Computer and Digital Forensics”.

These careers are real, growing, and educational resources are available now!  If you are a gamer, or if you know a gamer, there are cool careers to get into. The US Department of Labor predicts that IT jobs will be among the fastest growing and highest paying over the next decade. These jobs will be critical to the nation’s economy and security, and offer the highest entry level salaries with a bachelor’s degree of any out there. Check them out, and look into the schools and programs that most excite you.

These are the most efficient classes in my opinion. It all depends on your game-play so this can differ from person to person.Modern Warfare and you can always search the site for more useful information about this game.

Information Technology Recruitment Sector Report 2009 – 2010

Information Technology Recruitment Sector Report 2009 – 2010

Whilst 2009 has seen a hard job market during the last 3 months we have witnessed a significant increase in customer confidence, which has resulted in an increase in jobs coming through. The ICT division of Matchtech is responding to the needs of the market and is moving towards a more niche focussed skills approach in 2010, focussing on Software Development, PMO, Business Intelligence, ERP, New Media, GIS and Support. This will allow us to improve our awareness of our candidate’s skills and experience whilst focussing on key strategic technologies and markets.

IT Solution Provider

Recruitment within the IT Solution Provider industry has seen an upturn over the last 3 months, with an increase in both permanent and contract vacancies. Many clients are now reporting that previous “on hold” business is now moving ahead, so are hiring new staff for 2010. We are currently holding over 130 live vacancies, covering sales, consultancy, project & programme management, development and support. Sales vacancies have increased particularly for high end new business professionals, with a particular focus across areas such as SAP, CRM and  Business Intelligence. In light of this positive shift in the market, Matchtech has added to their successful Consultancy team by hiring a senior recruitment consultant to focus on the Business Intelligence market.

End User Clients

The IT End User permanent team which focuses on providing world class recruitment services to Matchtech’s corporate and private company client base is benefiting from a surge in vacancy orders. This increase started at the end of summer holidays and is still gathering pace – overall vacancies in are up 40% since August! Our clients have a strong appetite to get their vacancies filled before the Xmas break and are plotting for a busier and more vibrant 2010.

As ever the main skills sets in demand cover Software Development, Project Management, Business Analysis and IT Support. We have witnessed a significant drop off in candidate applications over the last couple of weeks  – so if you are thinking of starting your job search in the New Year our advice would be to not delay and get in contact prior to Christmas as there is less competition in the current market.

The contract market is also notably picking up but there has been a 3 month lag behind the recent upturn in the permanent market. Many of our clients are recruiting Project Management/PMO resources in large volumes and we also have a number of high-profile rollout and office relocation projects at a few clients, predominantly in the transportation and public sectors. This has resulted in a recent influx of IT Support and Infrastructure positions. Our general observation at the moment is that the contractor marketplace is generally candidate rich, but many niche skills such as SAP, Sharepoint and Oracle remain sought after.

NHS

In 2006 Matchtech IT was selected by the NHS Purchasing & Supply Agency (PASA) to supply IM&T (Information Management & Technology) contract, temporary and interim staff to the NHS. The NHS team has recently won the tender for PASA to extend our inclusion on the framework for another 3 years.  Currently, Matchtech ICT is the third largest supplier to the NHS for IT and Information staff under the PASA agreement; but we are currently the number one supplier to several regions throughout the UK including South West, South Central, Yorkshire & the Humber and Wales.

Matchtech has seen a noticeable rise in Consultancy and Project Staff over the last 6 months and would always be interested in speaking to candidates with NHS experience within 3 broad categories:

1. Project Management and Consultant positions
2. Information, Data Analysis and Informatics
3. Traditional IT – such as software development, training, support, helpdesk & roll-out

Information Technology, Internet And Online Business 2010

Information Technology, Internet And Online Business 2010

Let me be frank about my thoughts on Information Technology, and how it serves the interests of each succeeding generation. As I know, Information Technology and Internet complement each other to make our lives simple and better. The former has its origins in electronics, the later is more an adaptation of information technology to bring about radical changes in communication technology.

Information technology is too broad a term, that includes software, hardware, custom application development, web development, CMS and much more. Internet or what we call as world wide web is a well known defence application, owes its origins to the advances made in information technology, and adapted for civilian use. It is now the only medium in the world that provides 24/7 access to information, irrespective of any geographical or time limitations.

Internet has facilitated the conduct of online business, which came to be called as E-Commerce. We have now service providers for E-Commerce, that help clients with online stores, shopping cart, streamlined maintenance, automated payment processing, multiple web stores, complete gift registry support, and a range of flexible discounting and promotions.

Also, the online domain has witnessed rapid strides in terms of development of online applications, that ensure greater user interface, and convenience of use anywhere. The software developers have brought about greater interface between buyers and sellers, service providers and end-users, businesses and customers. The chat, messenger, Skype, intranet and other online communication tools have been developed for facilitating basic communication, online.

The benefits and saving gained in using the VoIP phone, itself stand testimony to the inordinate benefits we can gain by interfacing electronics and telecommmunications with online tools. These simple online communication tools mean fantastic savings on time and energy, and help in overcoming the limitations of geography and space.

In the days of economic slow-down, we find increasing competition between the once collaborating partners. The traditional business stakeholders find themselves as rivals in reaching markets and winning customers. Now, we find a trend where the manufacturers are bypassing the distribution channels to reach out directly to the customers, online. So, for manufacturers and retailers the online interface is not just for visibility or branding, but it is for winning customers, and sustaining the repeat customers.

These are the days of EVP – Emotional Value Proposition, a business’ survival and continuity depends on how well its onpage content reflects EVP, and how for social media is adhered with to gain and win customers, and go them towards loyalty. Online medium has emerged to the challenge of change, and the social networking sites like Orkut, Twitter and Facebook validate how global businesses are adhering to EVP not for the sake of profits or revenues but for the sake of winning customers loyalty over a long period of time.

Teams win, individuals don’t seems to be the maxim that underlies all concerted efforts of online marketing managers to consolidate businesses, provide visibility and win customers loyalty and confidence in the company’s offer of products and services. We have to work together more closely then ever, more importantly this becomes all the more needful especially in times of crises.

It is only common understanding of the business process, and customer’s interests that will keep businesses afloat. Training and proper documentation of the processes will leave no scope for confusion between the service provider and the affiliates. Providing the right inputs and materials to the customers is itself the first guarantee to make the customer to choose the offer. Clarity in sending the right set of messages to all stakeholders is sure to ensure customer’s confidence and loyalty, though it may not mean immediate call for action or closing a sale.

NCAA Football 2010 for Your Xbox 360

NCAA Football 2010 for Your Xbox 360

X-box 360 Gamers keenly awaiting the arrival of NCAA Football 2010 should be quite pleased to know that Electronic Arts (EA) Inc. had recently set the launch date for the game to be at July 14, 2009. This is only the official North American release date, but, so if you’re living elsewhere, your best bet would be to make an online reservation.

What to Expect from NCAA Football 2010
NCAA Football from EA Sports is not the world’s highest-selling college football video game series for over ten years for nothing. The excitement is all due to the fantastic gameplay and the equally fantastic gaming experience it offers to users.

Season Showdown
This all-new feature will be a delight for fans with strong passions for their respective school favorites. Every fan counts in Season Showdown as the credits are not only accrued during the game but also by playing online. With Season Showdown, every student’s participation counts if they want to make their school the #1 college for the season.

Authentic Gaming Experience
Authenticity has long been a primary and ongoing concern of fans, and it’s a challenge that EA Sports doesn’t hesitate to meet with each game they release. With NCAA Football 2010, each and every school making up the Football Bowl Subdivision is ably represented in the game from mascots to cheerleaders to school colors. That’s over a hundred schools for students to choose from!

Simming
Sometimes, we get bone idle even while we’re playing. But that doesn’t mean you’re lacking enthusiasm. You’re just…feeling bone idle. That’s all there is to it. EA Sports know that kind of response and it’s why they’ve presented the option for simming.

With simming, all a player has to do is pick the play and it’s up to AI to figure out the rest. Whether this is effective is something we’ll have to see to believe on July 14.

Procedural Awareness
Don’t you just despise it when games are purported to be realistic and then you notice how their eyes aren’t even able to look at what they’re going? Color NCAA Football 2010 different! With procedural awareness, it allows your defensive backs and wide receivers to look at the ball prior to making a play for them.

Other Features People Want to See in NCAA Football 2010
If you check out the game’s official website, you’ll notice the scarcity of news available regarding the other new features of NCAA Football 2010. No surprise there, though, since anticipation makes everything sweeter. The mystery and excitement surrounding the game, in any case, has induced game enthusiasts and experts into making their own wish lists for NCAA Football 2010 features.

More Teams?
If EA Sports can do it with basketball, surely they can do it with football, too? Thanks to the unexpected victory of Appalachian State over Michigan, fans are clamoring for additional FCS teams in NCAA Football 2010. Will EA listen?

Better Line Play
Everyone hopes so. A lot of players are exasperated with the predictability of line play and excessive use of stiff arm locks. Could there be a change?

Everyone wants NCAA Football 2010 to be better but whether or not EA Sports makes people’s dreams a reality remains to be seen on July 14. Mark that day on your calendar, folks!

Brian Kaldenberg is the president of http://www.Gamerosters.com – provider of NCAA Football rosters files for PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360. His company offers buy new memory card, memory card mail-in, and roster download service particularly NCAA 09 Rosters.
