Choosing Quality International Dental Care Abroad
Choosing Quality International Dental Care Abroad
These days, the concept of medical tourism has expanded and grown in demand as escalating healthcare costs and a shaky economy prevent many Americans from seeking much-needed dental treatments and procedures in the United States.
Venturing abroad for high quality dental care has become a very viable option for many. International patients traveling to foreign destinations such as Mexico, Poland, Asia, and South America are able to save thousands of dollars on similar dental procedures in the United States. Lower costs are not at all due to less experienced providers or quality of care, but because dental providers in foreign countries are not burdened under the enormous obligation of carrying astronomical medical malpractice insurance as those found in the United States.
Choosing quality international dental care abroad takes some time and effort. Some of the most vital things for consumers to look for in foreign destinations are quality in sterilization and sanitation, quality assurance, accreditation, certification, and credentialing.
Consumer information collected in simple-to-read dental guide packets or guides offer consumers information regarding the experience, technology of facilities and accreditation, experience and expertise of staff in foreign destinations. Many Americans or other citizens from around the world demand and deserve transparency in all medical and healthcare fields. Consumer information guides are especially valuable for Americans traveling south of the border for dental care.
Questions to Question International Providers
A multitude of general questions might be questioned of international providers, whether you’re looking for dental work in Hungary or for teeth whitening procedures in Thailand. Some of these basic questions include but are not limited to:
Are your facilities accredited by Boards of Hospitals in the country of origin, or are they JCI or internationally accredited?
Are dentists, oral surgeons and staff at your dental facility certified in techniques and procedures you’ll need?
How much experience do you have in these techniques?
Are before and after pictures available, as well as patient testimonials that I can verify?
Do you belong to native or international organizations or associations in your field of expertise and can you verify that?
Ensuring Quality
when looking for foreign dental healthcare providers, consumers should look for those who have internationally respected credentials or those who have staff trained in Europe, Australia, or the United States. But, medical standards in such countries as China, Japan, Thailand and Singapore are extremely competitive and offer assurance that surgeons are highly trained and skilled. The Joint Commission International accredits many foreign hospitals, as well as those who are accredited by the International Standards Organization. Many such dentists and dental professionals have been trained and hold accreditation by the American Dental Association, or for the purposes of the examples provided, the FDI or Hungarian Dental Association, or the Dental Association of Thailand.
Dentists and dental facilities who have undergone quality assurance audits by United States-based insurance carriers offer peace of mind. Many health insurance policies are beginning to offer coverage or reimbursement for beyond-borders medical care in many fields including dental care. Dental offices that carry malpractice insurance are especially well loved in Mexico and South America.
Knowledge of Dental Association certification, labs, education and training, and state-of-the-art equipment and procedures approved of in international destinations may take some of the concern and worry out of international travel for dental needs for many Americans and other international travelers.
Resources
Take the time to access resources such as the FDI World Dental Federation or the International and Foreign Directories provided by the American Dental Association that will show dentists around the world who belong to the ADA.

Anti Aging Skin Care Treatment Products
Anti Aging Skin Care Treatment Products
I have to say that I was beginning to show my age and chose to hunt down some excellent, anti aging, skin care treatment products. Let’s face it, its an undeniable, cold, hard fact of nature that all skin ages, some quicker than others. That last point could just be the luck of the draw as it depends on our genes.
Turning back the clock is also out of the question, but even when we get older we can with the right choice of products, get back that youthful looking skin we took for granted when we were youngsters. What is the best anti aging skin treatment will be briefly discussed here, with references to those ingredients that my research has uncovered, should be part of whatever you choose to use.
I say products because the vast majority of us cannot afford to have cosmetic surgery or pay for countless visits to beauty salons to undergo the latest fad. The first ingredient I’ll mention is something that’s called Cynergy TK. It might strike a familiar cord with some of you as a component of a brand named product.
By the way these huge beauty companies are expert at getting their message across and often use highly paid celebrities to endorse their ranges. That’s fine but without us getting too technical I learned that the best anti aging skin care treatment products contain a variation known as Functional Keratin, a naturally derived substance. It’s quite often the smaller companies that have used this ingredient because they choose to spend their time and funds on developing an effective, quality product rather than on grandiose adverts.
So, let’s just mention quickly what the fuss is about. The secret to using Functional Keratin inside a product is that its make up is as close as possible to a protein that’s found in our own skin. The direct benefit to us is the fact that our skin is thus left rejuvenated. Its makers have coined a very descriptive phrase, calling it ‘liquid skin’.
To further back up this claim there have been scientific studies that show how people have generated new skin cells, when using this version of Keratin. Some food for thought, and I’ve written about one such company on my main site, which has developed some quite outstanding products. Go see for yourself.

Boston Terrier Dental Care
Boston Terrier Dental Care
The Boston Terrier’s Mouth
Boston Terriers share many common dental characteristics with their human companions, including gum disease, gingivitis, periodontal disease, and tooth breaks.
There are several noted differences
• Boston Terriers usually do not get cavities
• An adult Boston Terrier has 44 teeth (humans have only 32)
• A Boston Terriers teeth are designed for their carnivorous (meat-eating) diet and humans teeth are designed for their omnivorous (eating meat and vegetables) diets
Like humans, a Boston Terrier’s teeth can loosen in their sockets, opening the opportunity for infection. This infection can travel through the bloodstream and cause kidney and heart disease. Antibiotics can suppress the infection, but only tartar removal can prevent recurrence.
The second largest problem for the Boston Terrier’s teeth is tooth break. A Boston Terrier can break their teeth surprisingly simple by crunching down on rocks, bones, and other tough substances.
Supplies Needed
A canine toothbrush or child’s soft toothbrush.
A finger brush.
Toothpaste for dogs comes in several flavors.
a. Nutri-Vet Canine Toothpaste, Chicken Flavor
b. Canine Enzymatic Toothpaste
c. KissAble Toothpaste
d. CET Pet Toothpaste
e. Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste
f. Triple Pet All Natural Toothpaste
g. Virbac Toothpaste Dog – Natural
A excellent canine diet.
Adequate clean water.
A large dose of like, patience, sweet talking, and praise.
Your Boston Terrier’s Dental Care Starts With Proper Diet
Dental distress can be caused by the incorrect kind of foods. The mild abrasiveness of dry food can help remove the bacterial plaque that can harden into tartar. Dry food also provides adequate chewing exercise and stimulation.
Feeding your pet sweets and table scraps may increase plaque and tartar formation. So avoid feeding your pet these items.
If your Boston Terrier is prone to dental problems your veterinarian may recommend a special dry food designed to reduce plaque and tartar.
Tartar buildup can be reduced by modifications in diet, but only regular brushing can reach the critical areas at and below the gum line.
Brushing Your Boston Terrier’s Teeth
Brushing your Boston Terrier’s teeth may be simpler than brushing your own. Your Boston’s teeth are narrow and more widely spaced, so the need for flossing is eliminated.
There are several noted differences in brushing your Boston’s teeth as opposed to brushing your own teeth. Because your Boston cannot rinse or spit out toothpaste, the toothpaste must be specially designed for dogs. Human toothpastes can irritate your Boston’s stomach and fluoride can cause mottling of the tooth enamel.
Getting Started
For the first few dental care sessions with your dog, do not even use a toothbrush.
The first step is selecting a excellent time. This should be a time in which the dog is relaxed, drowsy is excellent.
Gently stroke the outside of your Boston’s cheeks with the tip of your finger.
When your Boston becomes comfortable with that, place a small dab of toothpaste on your fingertip. Let your dog sniff it and then lick it off. Repeat this process several times.
Do not rush your Boston. Be patient. The last thing you will want is for your dental care time to be traumatic. You should not have to force your Boston. It may take days or weeks before your Boston becomes comfortable. You may need to back up and try days or weeks of gently stroking on the outside of their cheeks.
Gently rub several teeth with your fingers and a small dab of toothpaste.
Gradually increase the number of teeth brushed.
Remember, it is extremely vital to brush the back teeth where plaque and tartar have an increased tendency to accumulate.
Go slowly. Stop brushing after just a few minutes and long before you Boston starts to fuss.
If your Boston starts to dislike the procedure, back up to the step of gently stroking the outside of your Boston’s cheeks with the tip of your finger. Repeat this step for days or weeks until your Boston again becomes comfortable with you manipulating their mouth area.
Always remember to be patient. You do not want this time to be wrought with anxiety for both you and your Boston.
Next, introduce a small dab of toothpaste on a toothbrush to your Boston’s mouth. When your dog has tasted the toothpaste, reapply a small dab to the toothbrush and brush gently in a circular motion to their front teeth. Praise your Boston often, stroke their neck gently, speak softly. When your Boston is relaxed, pull their lips and cheek back gently to gain access to the side and back teeth. Brush softly.
Boston Terriers do not accumulate much tartar on the inside of their teeth, so it is vital to worry only about the outside surfaces. The back teeth are very vital.
Try to make your Boston’s dental care time pleasurable. Stop each session and lavishly praise your dog.
Your Boston Terrier may really start to look forward to their dental care time.
Consult your Boston’s Veterinarian for brushing frequency. Most will recommend at least twice a week. Boston’s with stubborn dental problems may need more frequent dental care.
While brushing your Boston’s teeth twice a week may seem daunting, it will become simpler with practice and patience. By caring for your Boston’s dental hygiene, you will assure excellent dental health, and may prevent more serious dental and medical problems as they age.
Professional Dental Cleanings
Consult with your veterinarian to determine frequency of needed professional dental care. Most will recommend an interval of one to three years.
Professional dental care is performed under general anesthesia. It will consist of scaling (to remove tartar above and below the gum line); polishing (to smooth the surface of your Boston’s teeth); and flushing (to dislodge both tartar and bacteria).
A professional dental cleaning may consist of:
a. Anesthetizing your Boston Terrier.
b. Taking x-rays to assess the health of their teeth and surround bone areas.
c. Flushing their mouth with antibacterial solution to kill bacteria
d. Using an ultrasonic scaler to clean the teeth.
e. Polishing the teeth to remove scratches
f. Examining each tooth and the surrounding gums for signs of disease
g. Reflushing the mouth again with the antibacterial solution.
h. Applying a dental agent to retard plaque buildup.
i. Documenting any abnormalities on your Boston’s chart.
j. Recommending follow-up and determining a home care regimen for your Boston Terrier.
The typical cost of a professional veterinarian’s dental care for your Boston Terrier is between and 0. Costs may increase if your veterinarian may determines that your dog may need pre-anesthesia blood work. A need for a more extensive cleaning may also increase the costs.
February
Remember that February is National Canine Dental Month.
If you have not had, your Boston Terriers’ teeth examined by your veterinarian, then now is an brilliant time. They may recommend a home care regimen that will prevent further problems.

Level Up Health Care with Network Technology
Level Up Health Care with Network Technology
One of President Obama’s major initiatives will be to bring the US health care system into the 21st century. Our lagging health care infrastructure has lead to massive medical inefficiency, high premiums to the average citizen and an overall ‘leaky faucet’ effect that is contributing to the pool of problems our economy faces. The Obama administration has proposed a five year, near 0 billion dollar, initiative to fix our health care system through innovative new technology that includes making electronic versions of all health records.
Although making electronic health records is a huge step in ‘leveling up’ our health care system to meet modern day information technology standards, there is also the less celebrity concept of implementing high-tech network technology towards health care. It will be one thing for doctors and patients to have access to medical data, and another for them to communicate that data.
From the Cisco System’s blog:
“Web 2.0 technologies are beginning to change the practice of medicine,” says Lynne A. Dunbrack, program director for Health Industry Insights a market research and advisory firm in Framingham, MA. “We now have a significant number of doctors who grew up with the Internet, and they want to use online collaboration technology to keep up with the relentless demands for ever-greater speed and efficiency.”
Medical communication technology still needs to catch up to the rest of the Web 2.0 technology , whether it be the ability for patients to easily browse a number of potential doctors or primary care facilities, or the functionality to allow a doctor to instantly access and update a patient’s records via their iphone. Although medical technology has advanced in leaps and bounds as far as its primary purpose- diagnosing and repairing patients, it still needs to embrace a new wave of communication and network technology.
This may be a hard task. One barrier to the health care stimulus’ task of digitzing records is simply doctors and medical specialists are used to the ancient way of doing things. It can be extremely hard to fully transition from the paper to digital world because it is a 180 degree change in the every-day routine and process of the work. The same goes for embracing new health care networking and communication technologies.
But, the advantages to utilizing these new technologies will far outweigh the hurdles of changing ancient ways. Cutting-edge video conferencing can allow multiple specialists to collaborate and diagnose on a level never before possible. ‘Medical-networking’ platforms can allow for patients to easily communicate with their doctor’s and nurses on a personal level, but prevent over-inundation of the available medical resources.
The first step to leveling up our health care system is for the medical community to change their mindset, and realize that any significant change for the excellent requires crossing a number of hurdles. The second step is rewiring and revamping the hardware and network infrastructure of medical facilities across the country. The barrier to entry here is the enormous cost and risk for both public institutions and private practices to make the digital leap of faith. There are ways to soften this blow as well.
Large network providers, like Cisco Systems and Juniper networks, can aid public medical institutions by providing the necessary network hardware infrastructure in bulk. Private practices are frightened of technological change because it seems like a risk (and investment) that could set them back some years, or worse, sink their business. But, some of the costs that private medical institutions and practices will incur can be lowered by purchasing used network hardware and computer equipment, such as a used router or refurbished server.
Although costly, if US medical institutions change their mindset and network infrastructure, it will place us well on our way to 21st century health care.
Times are hard for the American currently. My goal is to start a conversation about how we can use eachother’s knowledge to better our lives and country. Now is the time for us to stand together, and the internet is the perfect vehicle for us to traverse this hard path and emerge to a bright new era.
