How 2 Format your Ebook in Word & convert to a PDF file (Part 2)
Now that you have the basic format for your ebook, it’s time to go on to the finer details. Here are some more tips for formatting your ebook in Word and converting it into a PDF file.
Illustrations. Ebooks often include photos, pictures, charts, and other illustrations. But it’s vital to realize that because illustrations contribute to a larger file size, some ebook publishers only accept text submissions.
There is more than one way to add illustrations to your ebook, but one method is to use a scanner and then convert the pictures to .gif or .jpg files. You can then format the photos any way you like using software such as Photoshop or the GIMP.
You can’t really add illustrations directly into Word (you can, but it’s a nuisance) so if you plot to make an ebook with a lot of pictures, it’s a better thought to use a desktop publishing program. Always leave enough of a margin between the illustration and the text, and add captions when necessary.
Front matter. This includes the title page, a copyright page, acknowledgements, and a table of contents. To place together the copyright page, take a look at the copyright page of a print book and use the same formatting and information, using your own name and book title, of course. Leave out unnecessary items, such as the Library of Congress information. The only time you’ll need an ISBN number is if you’re going to sell electronic copies of the book on disk at a later date.
The table of contents is simple, Word automatically generates a table of contents when you use Headings formats for the chapter titles and subheads.
With an ebook it’s better to mark the first page as Page 1, even if it’s the title page. Print books don’t follow this format, but it works well for ebooks.
Back matter refers to all the information you opt to include at the end of the ebook, such as an index, bio, and contact information. Here you can also advertise other books you’re selling.
Time for Acrobat
Now that you have everything formatted in Word, it’s time to convert the file to PDF format. This is very simple to do. Simply use the Print command in Word and choose Save as File under the General pull-down menu. Select Acrobat PDF as the file type and choose the Destination as File. Click the Print button and that’s it! Your file is now a PDF, and can be read in Adobe Acrobat. Or, you can visit the Adobe website and convert the ebook for free online.
If you own a full version of Acrobat, there are more options to play around with. For example, the full program allows you to hotlink all the URLs in the ebook underline links or make them a different color so that they’ll stick out and your readers won’t miss them. There’s no point in making hotlinks in the original Word document, as they will disappear during the conversion process anyway. Save this step for Adobe.

Natural Health Therapies and Cancer – Part One
Natural Health Therapies and Cancer – Part One
Cancer. The word itself is alarming. It sounds like a death sentence. In many cases, it is. But it doesnât necessarily have to be that way. The topic of cancer is so large that we will take at least three or four articles to even start to touch on the main points. Like any other illness, the more you know about it, the better youâll be able to deal with it. For example, how much did you know about your own health issues before they touched your life personally? What would you have done differently in your life if you knew that it would prevent the problem from happening? Would you have been willing to make the changes? I imagine that you would. You have that opportunity with cancer. In a series of articles, weâll cover not only the natural health therapies for cancer but the lifestyle changes that help prevent cancer as well.
The increase in the rate of cancer is incredible. A hundred years ago, 1 in 33 people had cancer; today, 1 in 3 people either have cancer or will develop it. Statistics show that one American life is lost to cancer every 45 seconds. There is no other topic in medicine that has such urgency. So, exactly what is cancer? Basically, it is nature gone overboard. Healthy cells stop functioning properly for a variety of reasons and then start to reproduce hurt copies of themselves. The natural process of cells multiplying becomes accelerated because these new mutant cells are not regulated by the bodyâs normal controls. In addition, the life span of these cells is not controlled any longer, meaning that cancer cells become virtually immortal.
There are types and stages of cancer. Of the 150 different types of cancer, there are 5 major groups:
⢠Carcinomas â solid tumors from cells in the surface of the mouth, nose, throat, lung airways, skin, GI tract, GU tract, breast, and thyroid. Lung, prostate, stomach, skin, colon, and breast cancers are in this type.
⢠Sarcomas â solid tumor from bones, stout, and other soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, abdomen, heart, central nervous system, and blood vessels. These are the most rare and most deadly of solid tumors.
⢠Leukemias â a blood-borne cancer type characterized by an abnormal production of white blood cells.
⢠Lymphomas â solid masses of abnormal white blood cells concentrated in the lymph system. Examples of this type of cancer include Hodgkinâs disease and non-Hodgkinâs lymphomas.
⢠Myelomas â rare tumors from antibody-producing or blood cell-producing areas in the bone marrow.
Cancer is often described by what stage it is in. Staging in cancer refers to a scale used to determine amount of cancer, its location, size, and degree of containment. The four different levels listed below describe the stages of cancer.
⢠Stage I â earliest, most curable stage. Local tumor only.
⢠Stage II â some spreading of cancer to surrounding tissue and maybe nearby lymph nodes.
⢠Stage III â involves spreading to distant lymph nodes
⢠Stage IV â most advanced, least easily cured. Cancer has spread to distant organs.
Why do some people get cancer and others donât? What is the trigger that turns these healthy cells into mutants? What causes cancer? There are at least 33 contributing causes, according to various researchers. Each of these factors could be an article in itself so Iâll just provide you with the list for now. With this information, you can easily research these contributing items to increase your cancer knowledge. The factors that can contribute to cancer are:

Each of these types of complementary medicine has a wealth of scientific research available for review, thanks to the ongoing research of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In addition, each of the therapies is currently available through physicians with outstanding medical backgrounds. The bottom line is that all of the cancer therapies that I will discuss in the next few articles are valid and have been documented in scientific literature.
In upcoming articles, we will explore the use of the following methods for cancer therapy supported by scientific evidence:
⢠Nutrition â Dietary changes and Anti-Cancer Nutritional Supplements

Communication Technology And Stress – Part 2
Communication Technology And Stress – Part 2
In the first part of this article we studied about how email changed our lives forever. In a way email made all of us easily accessible but also added lot of stress in our lives. It is said that Begum Noorjahan, queen of Mughal Emperor Jehangir had trained pigeons that carried her messages. She had no stress about how they reached their destination and when. Whereas we get frantic if an expected email does not arrive in time. This age of information technology has made many medical professionals who treat stress related diseases much richer.
The next quantum jump was with online chat. You will find many people who are constantly on the look out of friends who are online for chat. Why? So that they can discuss something with them while doing their work at the same time. Most of such chats are of no use except that they are fantastic stress builders and work spoilers. Earlier we used to go out to meet friends. Now a days we join chat rooms and chat with people about whose real identity we have no clue. A man may be acting as a woman and vice versa.
Somehow we are forgetting our purpose of life because we are being bombarded with technology. We have forgotten that there is something like joy, fun, reflection, and peace. There is no peace in lives of most of those who are online. The stress effects are very perilous. It may cause depression, cardiac problems, affect immune system and play havoc with our health. But we are not concerned because most of us are busy with our personal computers. A time may soon come when more and more people will meet their friends only online and may not meet them physically for years.
In the next part of this article we will find out about how discussion boards may be causing stress to most of us.

Talking About Various Features in a Web Hosting Package – ( Part 2)
Talking About Various Features in a Web Hosting Package – ( Part 2)
In my previous article, I have already made you familiar with some features which normally a web hosting company would deal with. I am now going to mention some few more features so that you get a better understanding about the entire web hosting package which you have bought from a web hosting company. The features are as follows:
1) Customer service or customer support:
Whether you are an expert or a newbie in web hosting, it is essential to have a web host which provides excellent customer support system. Some of them would prefer to search quick answer without seeking staff. So, if there is huge database, normally itâs searchable. Some web hosting providers come up with a video tutorial facility in order to guide the person step by step in setting up a new account. Excellent for beginners. If a person is not interested to find the answer of a huge pool of database, in that case, he can get the direct answer from someone who knows it. Direct customer support can come in the form of email support, phone support and web chat support.
2) Reliability and uptime commitment:
You must choose a web hosting provider which is reliable from the uptime point of view. Imagine a situation where your visitors come in contact with your website and suddenly notice that itâs not accessible. In such a case you will certainly lose credibility and you could even lose a sale. If your web hosting provider cannot provide 99% uptime then it time to quit and go on to some who is genuinely reliable. A excellent web hosting provider will know how to minimize downtime with the help of a excellent management systems implementation. It is very essential from a web hosting provider to install a redundant back-up system. I mean that if there is any interruption of internet connection, at that time, the alternate internet connection will be in force. There are also sophisticated software being used in order to monitor the uptime of the concerned web host.
3) Using efficient network facility:
The web server setup and local area networks play an vital role in dealing with the speed of data transfer. But, how quick your website gets showed also depends on the type of network connections. There are so many web hosting providers who still use internet connection through T1 or T3 connections. The top Web hosting companies use optical carrier lines. Usually a T1 line will offer data transfer rate of 1.5 mbps while a T3 type of connection can offer data transfer at a rate of 43 mbps. It all depends on the capabilities of a web hosting provider which is in the form of features that are incorporated within the hosting package.
4) Popularity to survive as a host:
A web hosting company must be well loved in the eyes of the customer. A web hosting company might have the best feature offered and unbeatable customer support and also reliability intact but without a excellent marketing plot, the company may not survive. These days, there is a lot of competition In the market and a web hosting provider should have sufficient members and also a steady growth of new members in order to survive in this highly competitive industry.

The True Issues of a Very Cheap Web Host – (part 1)
The Right Issues of a Very Cheap Web Host – (part 1)
These days, there is a quick growing trend of hosts offering very cheap shared hosting plans. This article will expose the happenings that one should be aware as a customer who buys very cheap web hosting plot. There are many such customers who are not noticing the issues made by the cheap web hosting providers and also these customers do not know what these issues exactly mean to them. This article is mainly made for such type of people. But, others can also update their knowledge by reading this article. Normally, customers may see a hosting plot with regard to its prices and the various features offered. He then starts comparing the offers with other hosts. Finally he settles for a hosting plot. But he does it without checking the terms and services of each host. This point should not be ignored while deciding to buy the very cheap web hosting plot. You can be easily a victim if you have bought a very cheap web hosting plot without reading and understanding the terms of services as per the posting provider. Some of the issues which you must be aware while selecting a very cheap web host are as follows:
1) Know the right relationship between data transfer usage and server resources in a cheap web host:
The data transfer usage and server resources are not directly related with each other. Example: if you buy 100GB of data transfer facility, yet you will have to be very much confined by the CPU and memory.
2)No way of monitoring the end users accounts or websiteâs CPU and memory usage:
The majority of control panels do not offer any way for the end user to observe his or her accounts on websites with regard to information about CPU and memory usage. This makes misunderstandings and finally leads to endless disputes, regarding whether the usage is really as the host claims. Thus, a customer will often feel that the web host is over charging him in up selling, which is unacceptable to the customer.
3) The terms and conditions are not clear enough to know for an average customer
It is very vital to carefully check the terms of services of each host. The server resources usage abuse clauses may tend to be a bit complicated to know. This leads the host to interpret the terms the way he wants to. If the terms and conditions would be clean, then the customer could confidently prove his standing when the need arise. But he is not able to do this because the server resources usage abuse clause is often ambiguous. A âserver resources abuseâ clause is worded differently from host to host. Also, the clause may itself reserves the right to suspend or terminate a customers web hosting account if too much CPU (memory) is used. So, if you are not clear on with the terms and condition of the host, you may get trapped by having your website terminated or fined.
4)Knowing the drawback of a customer:
This very cheap web hosting package, influences the customer to a very fantastic extent. The customer easily falls for this cheap web hosting package. The web hosting provider also knows that there are also web host customers who may not know what is hosting and servers all about. It is these types of customers which makes the web host providers more pleased about and the customers are not aware of this fact.
